Successful  "Suit 4a Suit" Events

 

  • Assisted single mothers/fathers with children, and provided to those who live in shelters. 2009.​

  • Provide professional clothing to the Los Angeles County Probation Department DRC since 2010 to Present.

  • BTT has helped over 100 foster youth enrolled with Department of Children Family Services, that have graduated or will be transitioning out of the system 2011-2012

  • First Annual Career Moves - Dress for Success Event at Central Juvenile Hall, a collaboration with Women Empowered of Probation Association. Served on committee to assist with a 'Dress for Success Day' with Central Juvenile Hall and Women Empowerment (8/6/2011) with workshops and with the distribution of clothing, but plans were changed due to some difficulties.  Girls were to be motivated to learn:  professional behavior, dress towards success, communication skills, and the value of advance preparation towards your goals.  With the help of Bath and Body Works, in Cerritos, CA, we had a clothing drive at site store. 2010

  • Assisted with clothing for law enforcement Honor and Strength Community Re-Entry and Rehabilitation Program, Women’s Treatment Program Los Angeles Metropolitan Churches (LAM/HOPICS) (women coming out of incarnation), Vinewood Re-Entry Federal Program, Pathway to Your Future (single mother shelter), Urban League, and Volunteers of America (service center for veterans). 2013-2016

  • 1000 Suits for 1000 Women Veterans Donations Contributors-Tammy Ward Lawyer/Dewayne Wade, Paulette Ward President of the R.T. Fields Bar Associations, Langston Bar Association.  2015

  • Provided clothing to EDD office located in Compton (2015).

  • PV Jobs, Director Mary Taylor, Director, Right Turn Program honoring youth who went through their program for a Hopes Realized-Dreams Fulfilled 17th Annual Recognition Luncheon.  Wearing Men’s Warehouse suits of those youth honored. (9/24/2015). 

  • Presently, have a closet with EDD Disable Veteran Outreach Program located in Canoga Park, CA, 2015 to present.

  • Stub Hub Center, Carson, CA with Charlotte Brimmer, Stub-Hub Center- Event Coordinator, Veteran’s Job Fair on Sunday, January 3, 2016 in collaboration with the Marine Corp Semper Fidelis All American Bowl. The job fair took place from 12-4 p.m., and many attended, while BTT gave suits from Men’s Warehouse, and gave out ladies suits too.  The annual Marine Corp Football game followed.  Job Fair Mantra: "JOB FAIR: HIRING ON THE SPOT"!  They hired many veterans and non-veterans.

  • 100k Opportunities’ event given by Starbucks/ Global Community /Starbucks Schultz Foundation, Nordstrom’s, and Before the Transition, Inc., collaboration for the February 11, 2016, Los Angeles Convention Center 100k Opportunities Job Fair, where ‘our Suit 4a Suit’ project we gave out around 50 suits, plus ties, shirts, shoes to job seekers.  They welcomed 6,000 young people to the first-ever Opportunity Fair & Forum in Los Angeles, where they interviewed for jobs, accessed career resources, worked on their resumes, and received direct mentoring and coaching. More than 1,000 immediate job offers were extended by the 32 companies in attendance.   •  Assisted in giving out professional clothing on 8/21/2015 and 8/26/2016 for the Inaugural Career & Resources Fair, Sponsored by: South Bay Veteran Employment Committee.  In Collaboration with: Isadore Hall, III, Senator, 35th District, Patrick O’Donnell, Assembly member, 70th District, Assembly member Mike Gipson, 64th District, Supervisor Don Knabe, County of Los Angeles, Fourth District, Eric Garcetti, Los Angeles Mayor, CRS Productions, South Bay WIB, Department of Social Services, Cal VET, VFW, New Directions for Veterans, and the Employment Development Department.  The event was located at the ‘Home of the Battleship Iowa’ in Long Beach, CA. 

  • BTT, coordinated a fashion show on 9/17/2016 in Lake Elsinore, at the Outlet Mall with VF Clothing store, and it was a big success for Breast Cancer Awareness.

  • Trade Tech Carlon L. Manuel, M.S, Veteran U.S.M.C., and Mr. Wade assisted foster youth 15 young men ready for jobs. with Thomas Lee, Director, Opportunity Youth Collaborative Alliance for Children’s Rights giving out suits to young teens on 9/30/2016. 

 

  • Operation Makeover – we will be assisting with this event that makeover veteran women, located in Riverside, CA, 10/8/2016.  Talia Wesley, Founder

  • On Oct. 29, 2016, provided suits, shirts and ties to local Community Pasadena College that run a program called “Saving our Young Black Men” prepare 15-20 youth for jobs and the world.

  • Lake Elsinore Alternative High School, SAFER Program 10/2016, and closet is in progress at this school.

  • Successful! “Toy Drive” for veteran children, donated to BTT by coordinator of event, Jawana R. McFadden, Program Manager, Veterans & Individuals with Disabilities, Talent Acquisition, Strategic Programs, Southern California Edison (SCE), Rosemead, CA 91770.  New York Times Bestseller “Tough as They Come”, Author SSG Travis Mills guest speaker. Toys will be donated this Christmas to veteran families of “U Are Important” Foundation, a 501c/3 located in Lake Elsinore, CA.  (11/17/2016)
